We collect the following categories of personal information: (a) Account Information — your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, and account credentials provided during registration; (b) KYC Data — identity verification documents, government-issued identification numbers, and related verification data as required for regulatory compliance; (c) Trading Activity — simulated trade history, portfolio data, watchlists, and investment preferences generated through your use of the Platform; (d) Device and Technical Information — IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and access timestamps; and (e) Communications — messages sent through the Platform's support channels and feedback submissions.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes: (a) Account Management — to create, maintain, and secure your account; (b) Platform Operations — to provide, personalize, and improve the Platform's features and functionality; (c) Regulatory Compliance — to fulfill KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) obligations as required by Ethiopian law; (d) Security — to detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, unauthorized access, and other security threats; (e) Communications — to send service-related notifications, updates, and respond to your inquiries; and (f) Analytics — to analyze usage patterns and improve the overall user experience.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data in the following circumstances: (a) Licensed Brokers — when EthioShare facilitates connections between users and licensed brokerage firms, relevant account and transaction data may be shared as necessary to complete transactions; (b) Regulatory Authorities — we may disclose information as required by law or in response to valid requests from Ethiopian regulatory bodies, including the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) and the National Bank of Ethiopia; (c) Service Providers — we engage trusted third-party service providers who process data on our behalf for hosting, analytics, and customer support, subject to strict confidentiality agreements; and (d) Legal Obligations — we may disclose information to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal proceedings.
EthioShare is committed to data sovereignty and compliance with Ethiopian data protection laws. All personal data is stored and processed in compliance with Proclamation No. 1321/2024 (the Personal Data Protection Proclamation of Ethiopia). Where data processing occurs outside of Ethiopia, we ensure that adequate safeguards are in place to protect your information in accordance with applicable law.
Under applicable Ethiopian data protection law, you have the following rights regarding your personal data: (a) Right of Access — you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you; (b) Right to Correction — you may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data; (c) Right to Deletion — you may request the deletion of your personal data, subject to our legal and regulatory retention obligations; (d) Right to Restrict Processing — you may request that we limit how we process your data in certain circumstances; and (e) Right to Withdraw Consent — where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Account information and trading activity data are retained for the duration of your active account and for a period thereafter as required by Ethiopian financial regulations.
